ONCE AGAIN, if you don’t care about the minute-by-minute blog and don’t want to watch the entire video (whenever they start appearing on the usual sites or YouTube), here’s a quick recap of what went down at EA’s E3 2011 press conference today:
- Mass Effect 3 trailer and live gameplay demo. Releases 3.6.12.
- Demo for a new Need For Speed game, called The Run. Loaded with QTEs and the ability to get out and run around foot, features I don’t recall anyone asking for.
- Greg Zeschuk introduces a trailer for Star Wars: The Old Republic trailer. No live gameplay footage, however.
- A new SSX that takes you all across the globe, coming Jan 2012.
- FIFA 12 footage, along with a bunch of celebrity testimonials.
- Madden 12 footage, along with Ray Lewis, Peyton Hillis and Clay Matthews.
- The Sims Social, a Facebook game.
- Reckoning, an RPG from Curt Schilling’s 38 Studios.
- Footage of a new action game called Overstrike, introduced by Ted Price from Insomniac. Lighthearted feel, lots of cool weapons and gadgets.
- Battlefield 3! A trailer, some footage of the engine, and then a lengthy gameplay demo showing tank combat.
Overall, no blockbuster announcements, but heavy on games, including some good footage, and light on awkward marketing nonsense.
